Black Belt is a professional who can explain Six Sigma philosophies and principles, including supporting systems and tools. A Black Belt should demonstrate team leadership, understand team dynamics and assign team member roles and responsibilities.

Starting with the voice of the customer and working through the Six Sigma process (DMAIC), Green Belts are able to identify and eliminate defects in manufacturing or service-related processes.

Yellow Belt is for specialists and process owners, and also project champions. Yellow belts participate as a project team members. They review process improvements that support the project.
